If Blue laser is used the capacity of the discs can be increased to 200 GB of data. The technology utilizes red laser technology, but is also compatible with Blue laser. With the ability to store up to 30 GB per single side, VMDs have the capacity to store more than two full feature length films in the 1080p format. High storage capacity, faster data transfer rates than competing Blu-ray and HD DVD mediums, and highly competitive pricing on both players and movie titles are all bound to make HD VMD a compelling new HD format for the consumer.
